Women’s Excellence specializes in the excision of endometriosis, the preferred treatment of endometriosis to remove inflammatory endometriosis tissue, relieve pain, and help restore fertility.
Endometriosis is a disease in which endometrial tissue grows outside of the uterus. In more common cases, tissue typically grows on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and the inner lining of the abdomen. In more severe cases, endometriosis can grow on the bladder, ureter (the tube that passes urine from the kidney to the bladder), and the kidneys. The highly skilled physicians at Women’s Excellence are equipped to handle even the most severe cases of endometriosis. These complex cases are done utilizing the da Vinci robotic surgical system.
Symptoms of endometriosis can vary, which often leads to patients being un-diagnosed or misdiagnosed. Women’s Excellence is specially trained to identify these symptoms and perform the necessary tests. Endometriosis symptoms include heavy bleeding, painful periods, irregular periods, spotting, lower back pain, painful intercourse, bladder pain, constipation, abdominal fullness or bloating, and infertility
Minimally invasive excision of endometriosis is the preferred method of endometriosis treatment in women. With excision, the lesions are removed and destroyed all the way down to the roots, not leaving any damaged tissue behind. Excision also helps maintain healthy tissue in the surrounding organs.
Once the damaged tissue is removed, the specimens are sent to pathology to rule out cancer and determine the extent of the disease.
