Urinary Leakage | Womens Excellence Blog

Incontinence is a normal part of aging

Normal and common are two different things.  As women age, their bodies begin to lose the control to hold their urine.  Although this is a common occurrence among all women as they age, it is NOT normal. If you are having frequent episodes of urinary leakage, please talk to your healthcare provider. Women’s Excellence has a special team dedicated to help stop your leaking!

Leakage is embarrasing, but it is not a serious medical issue

Although urinary leakage and incontinence are not life threatening, it can make your life dreadful!  Not only are women faced with the physical constraints of urinary leakage, women often times alter their life to cope with urinary problems like avoiding to leave the house or refraining from sexual intercourse.  At Women’s Excellence, this is serious for us!  No woman needs to live with the physical and emotional toll that urinary leakage causes.

Disposable underwear OR surgery are the only treatment options

We live in a day and age where tremendous research has been done to help women with urinary leakage.  You have options!  Did you know that your lifestyle can effect your bladder?  Did you know that minimally invasive, out-patient procedures exist to fix your bladder?  Here are your options!

  • Pelvic physical therapy
  • Medications
  • Dietary changes
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Minimally invasive procedures
  • Advanced technologies like Botox bladder injections and Axonics therapy (sacral neuromodulation)

Reduce water intake to avoid leakage

Reducing your water intake can lead to dehydration and bladder irritation because fluids help your body to remove acids and bacteria out of your body.  We recommend drinking plenty of water throughout the day, but in smaller doses.

Bladder leakage starts after the age of 40

Urinary incontinence is more common as you age and your bladder muscles weaken, however, events like childbirth or other traumatic bladder incidents can affect the elasticity and function of the bladder. Thankfully, Women’s Excellence treats women of all ages!

Stop suffering today and get back to living your BEST life.
